Decathlon whey protein: why a new formula?

With a view to simplicity, our new sports nutrition products offer deliberately short lists of ingredients. We particularly focus on the origin of raw materials, more natural products and a shortened ingredient list.

Based on your feedback, we wanted to rework our Whey Protein to meet your needs: a whey protein for fitness enthusiasts looking for a natural tasting protein powder with a simple composition and less sugar. To meet your needs, our new whey protein has been tested and approved by a panel of sports users via our Decathlon co-creation platform.

The chocolate flavour of our Whey Protein received an overall rating of 4.16/5 from our testers. The chocolate flavour received 100% recommendations, the nutritional values are rated good to excellent at 95%, and 94% of testers would buy this product.

Just like Roman, give us your opinion on the new recipe:

I'm really surprised by the taste which is very nice and which, in my opinion, is so much nicer than the old version, despite including stevia. Pleasantly surprised with regard to the list of ingredients. It's extremely rare to find a brand that offers an entry-level product that's so "clean" in its composition. It's pleasant to see so few ingredients and ingredients of natural origin.

1/ Premium-quality ingredients made in france

Whey Protein is a snack that's high in protein, easy to consume and transport, to support your fitness goals.

The new Whey Protein is made in France with 50% of the primary ingredient being of French origin (protein) and 50% of Dutch origin.

You'll find a deliberately short list of ingredients in our chocolate Whey Protein: Whey Protein,  skimmed milk powder, natural flavouring, stevia and acacia gum.

That's how this Whey Protein contains no artificial flavourings or sweeteners. Which means that you won't find any sucralose, aspartame or acesulfame potassium in your shaker.

We've chosen to use only natural flavouring, but also stevia, a sweetener of vegetable origin (stevia leaves). As well as acacia gum, a natural fibre, to add texture.

If you're used to protein powder with artificial sweeteners, our new whey proteins may seem lighter at first glance.

To intensify the taste, you can vary the volume of liquid mixed with the powder. For example, a variation of 50 ml will have a significant impact on the flavour and texture. Based on tests, we advise 150 ml per shaker.

For even more flavour, you can also take your Whey Protein  mixed with a plant-based drink such as coconut milk or almond milk.

Finally, for those of you with a sweet tooth, you can also use your protein to make lots of protein recipes like pancakes, bowlcakes or smoothies.
