Sports bras:

As dynamic as it might be, remember that your breasts don't have a single muscle. The firmness of your breasts is determined by the chest muscles underneath. When you participate in sport, you put your chest under stress. If your breasts don't have the right support, you're going to feel it.

Normal bra ≠ Sports bra

Your bra might feel like it gives support, but it won't provide enough support for exercise.

Lace and cotton are neither ventilated nor antiperspirant fabrics. And do you really want to carry on wearing the same underwear after training? No thanks! Instead, choose a bra made with fabric that breathes and combats sweat. Most bras also don't have an underwire.Say goodbye to irritated skin and itching.

Fitness bra ≠ Running bra

Whilst bras prioritise support and freedom of movement, running bras prioritise compression. Fitness bras have no fastening at the back, meaning you can do floor exercises without irritation. And for a touch of style, some fitness bras have an attractive back that goes well with cardio tank tops.

Compression bra ≠ Bra with built-in cups

A compression bra, usually used by women with small to medium cup sizes, is made from an elasticated fabric that surrounds both breasts and presses them tight against your body. A bra with built in cups is usually used by women with larger cup sizes, and keeps the breasts separate. This bra offers more support.

Choosing the right sports bra

- Your breasts should fill the cups fully, without overflowing.

- The larger your chest, the wider the straps you'll need.

- A bra with a muscle back offers greater freedom of movement and stops straps from sliding down during exercise.

- A front fastening is more practical for getting changed.

- Try testing it out by jumping up and down in the changing room.

- A good sports bra compresses your breasts against your ribs and holds your breasts firmly; both at the sides and from underneath.
