If you want to feel comfortable at all times during your workout, there are two very important things you need for fitness: leggings and a sports bra!

Why is a sports bra so important?

Many women simply wear a regular bra when doing sport. “This is not a good decision,” says Aurélie, sports bra product manager at Decathlon, who knows a thing or two about the subject. “When you do cardio fitness activities, your breasts tend to move in all directions: up and down, left to right, forward and back. They move a lot! That means you need to protect your breasts, not only to prevent sagging but also to prevent pain that can be caused by these repeated movements.” A good sports bra will reduce the impact of movement on the breasts while supporting their natural movement.

Finding the perfect size

“Choosing the right size bra is essential,” says Aurélie. “It should fit perfectly to be effective. Many women think that a sports bra should be tight, but in fact, it should never restrict your natural movement.” Refer to the size guide to find the size that corresponds to your underband and cup size to choose the bra that fits your bust without compressing it. You should feel comfortable and at ease. If you have any doubts, be sure to ask a sales assistant for advice!

Finding the right bra for your activity

Depending on the activities you want to do, you may need to choose a different bra for each: some offer low support and greater freedom of movement. “A low-support bra is suitable for low-impact activities, such as circuit training where you won't be jumping, explains Aurélie. “About 80% of the time, most people will need a medium-support bra for sport. They generally offer enough support in terms of impact,” she says. “They can be used in most fitness activities.” Finally, for maximum support, you can opt for a high-support bra. “This type of bra is especially well suited to very repetitive movements, such as with running or a highly rhythmic cardio activity. High support is also very appreciated by women with larger bust sizes.

And don't forget about style…

Finally, a sports bra is a key part of any fitness enthusiast's outfit, just like leggings. “It can be worn under a tank top or T-shirt, or even alone,” says Aurélie. “We design our sports bras to be flattering. Our goal is for our sports users to feel comfortable, confidant and beautiful. There is a huge choice of options and some of our bras are push-ups. Feeling confident and comfortable in your clothing also makes it easier to actually go to the gym. No matter your body shape, everyone should find comfortable clothing that fits and makes them feel good about themselves.
