WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO WEAR SHOES DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR CARDIO FITNESS?

Our laboratories have done studies that show the importance of wearing the right shoes for your sport.

Limited traction frees up part of the foot and makes certain exercises and rotations easier. For outdoor activities like running and walking, shoes with more rubber will last longer and give you better grip. If these shoes are used for fitness activities, the rubber can be too grippy, which can be hard on tendons and cause tendinitis. There is a 24% greater risk of injury when wearing running shoes instead of shoes designed specifically for fitness.

WHAT DIFFERENCE IS THERE BETWEEN RUNNING SHOES AND CARDIO FITNESS SHOES?

Cardio fitness, which is generally done inside, involves specific and multidirectional movements. You alternate between rotations, skater jumps, tuck jumps, squats, lunges and more, all of which have you landing on your forefeet.

Multidirectional flexibility facilitates rotation and directional changes of the feet during exercises.

For running and walking, the movement is in only one direction: from the back to the front, where you land on your heel.

The movement is linear without directional changes.

This is why you should choose your shoes based on your sport.

SHOULD YOU SIZE UP? 

Our cardio fitness shoes are designed based on our usual sizes.

There's no need to size up—just choose your usual size.

Be sure to measure your feet and take into account your specific needs (wide, narrow, etc.) and trust your instincts on how they feel.

To help you choose the right size, measure your feet to the millimetre and check it against our foot gauge.

WHEN SHOULD YOU REPLACE YOUR SHOES? 

Our shoes do not have a specific lifespan. It will depend on your frequency of use.

If you work out regularly or intensively year round, your shoes will wear out faster than if you only get in the occasional workout.

The cushioning of your shoes will also wear out faster during activities where you jump a lot and land on your forefeet.

Replace your shoes when you start to feel they're getting worn out.

CAN YOU RUN ON A TREADMILL WITH FITNESS SHOES? 

Our Domyos shoes can be worn for short periods of treadmill running.
If you want to run or walk on a treadmill before or after a class, these shoes will be just fine. However, if you plan to run more regularly on a treadmill or outdoors, we recommend opting for shoes designed specifically for running.

CAN YOU WEAR THESE FITNESS SHOES OUTSIDE? 

Cardio fitness activities are mainly done at the gym or at home.

Our shoes are designed for indoor use.

The outsole rubber is softer and intended for indoor use.

The sole's traction has been tested on the types of flooring used in gyms and homes (wood floors, linoleum, etc.) and offers enough abrasion resistance to prevent premature wear with enough traction to keep you from slipping.
Wearing these shoes outdoors (on tarmac, for example) will cause the soles to wear out faster as they are not designed for this type of material.
