To stay in shape, you got yourself an exercise bike. Your fear: being super regular at the beginning, but failing to keep it up over the long term and ultimately giving up. Busy schedules, fatigue, unforeseen circumstances... oh yes, daily life can quickly take control and lead us to lose sight of our goals. Fortunately, there are tips for staying motivated all year round and not losing steam - here they are!

FIRM THIGHS AND GLUTES

[1/] PLAN YOUR WORKOUTS

When you want to build a new habit into your routine, the key is making space for it! Especially if you already feel like you never stop. Everything is possible with good organisation, and don't worry, that's something you can learn.

To optimise your days, first take stock to see where you're "losing" time. Then, ask yourself if you could do things differently? For example, you could order groceries online instead of going to the store, look several meals in advance on Sundays, using public transit rather than putting up with traffic in your car… You get it. There are plenty of solutions for optimising your weeks and freeing up some time for the activities that you really like.

Once you've figured it out, plan your exercise bike workouts in advance. Tuesday evening, Thursday evening, and Sunday morning, for example. Those meetings will be just as important as any other, and it will be essential for you to show up in order to build sport into your life. And even if you sometimes have to force yourself a bit, the well-being you feel during and after your workout will motivate you! On both the mental and physical level, regular exercise quickly becomes a necessity :)

[2/] SET CONCRETE GOALS

Nothing is more motivating than concrete goals! Getting back in shape, bike travel, reducing cellulite, losing weight, or a bike race… With sport, and particularly with exercise bikes, there is no shortage of challenges. What are yours?

Once you've defined them, you need to get specific. Replace "a bike trip" with "a week of biking with friends around Brittany", "losing weight" with "losing 3 kilos", "being able to ride far" by "covering 60 km per week", etc. Clear, concrete objectives drive you to push your limits and be diligent, since you know why you're riding!

That way, the days you have less energy or drive, remember what's waiting on the other side :)

[3/] FOCUS ON THE BENEFITS OF YOUR EXERCISE BIKE

Who doesn't want to take care of their health? At a time when we're more and more sedentary, our bodies are the first to pay the price.

Exercise bikes are a good option to combat this and stay dynamic without needing to leave home. If you want to get back to physical activity and stay in shape, 30 minutes at moderate intensity 3 times a week is plenty. As you train, you'll find your dynamism and energy, and your body will thank you!

Beyond your body, sport is also good for your mind. During your workout, you are reducing stress and recharging yourself. Calming and energising, you'll end your workout with the mindset of a warrior!

[4/] DON'T FORGET RECOVERY

Last but not least: recovery. We sometimes create our own obstacles by trying to do things too well. Training every day, thinking you'll meet your goals faster, is a mistake. Look at exercise bikes like a marathon, not a sprint. There's no point to training intensely for a month and then letting it go.

By over-training, you'll end up getting tired of the sport and you'll also interfere with muscle-building. The recovery phase is essential for all athletes. It allows the body to adapt and develop, and it reduces the risk of injury. So forget about daily workouts and think about your exercise bike in the long term.
