4 Good ways to stay active during your holiday

When on holiday, your schedule changes, sometimes to the detriment of your physical health. Domyos is offering a few good tips and plans so that you're ready to stay active and healthy while on holiday.

Whether you're going away or staying home, holidays are a good chance to ease up on your diet, sleep schedule and exercise. So to stay toned and keep your beautiful figure, follow these tips from Domyos...

Tip n°1: take free fitness classes

What if Domyos could also help your wallet? With Decathlon E-Club Live, you can take various free fitness classes at home: pilates, body sculpting, cardio and yoga, there's something for all preferences and skill levels.

Just sign in to Decathlon E-Club live to start taking classes directly from the Domyos Club in Marcq en Barœul (Nord). A class schedule is available with a wide range of times from Monday to Sunday. Try a class live and go at your own pace, which is perfect for holidays, all while staying in shape!

Tip n°2 : adapt your training programme to holidays

Holidays are for resting your body and spirit. However, exercise is a physical activity that keeps you toned and stimulates your brain. So decrease the intensity of your regular training and pick new goals. Overestimating your training pace could be demotivating if you can't keep up. Instead, opt for walking or cycling to gently train your lower body. If you live in the city, head to the park for an urban workout (did you know that a simple bench is a comprehensive accessory for working your arms, abs and glutes?). The key is to break up the workout: a few minutes of sprinting followed by some walking, a few push-ups on the edge of the pool and then swim a few lengths, relax for a bit on a deckchair and then leg raises! The secret to staying active during holidays is getting up early to beat the heat so that you avoid overheating and, of course, listen to your body!

Tip n°3: must-have fitness accessories for a successful active holiday

Getting a fitness accessory for your holiday can also be great motivation. Try it beforehand to get familiar with it. If you're going away, most accessories are fairly lightweight and have various uses. The jump rope, which is so easy that we tend to forget about it, is a very comprehensive cardio-training accessory. 15 minutes a day is enough to provide good results: a beautiful figure, improved endurance and even weight loss!

As for weight training, we recommend taking the Push Up Gain for core and upper body work. Finally, for stretching sessions, opt for the elastiband. It easily slips into your suitcase and can tone your entire body while gently stretching muscles.

Tip n°4: eating right while on holiday

It can be difficult to resist the temptations of food and delicious meals, often paired with alcoholic beverages (high in calories, drink 2 glasses of water for every alcoholic drink), that are so symbolic of an enjoyable holiday. Following a restricted, hard-core diet before your holiday isn't an option because you will quickly put kilos back on. But there's nothing stopping you from preparing for your holiday with a healthy, balanced diet. Swap out peanuts for refreshing cherry tomatoes and opt for sweet, juicy seasonal fruit. You can also eat well during breakfast meals, drinking tea or a fruit juice, because a big breakfast is guaranteed to keep you from snacking later in the day**.

*Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health, drink in moderation

**For your health, avoid eating food rich in fat, sugar or salt
