  • Good quality product - awful marketing

Sturdy solid bar Not compatible with any other weight system

It should clearly state on the product what the diameter is since it is slightly wider than one inch making any other standard weight plate incompatible. It smacks of sneaky deliberate marketing so you are forced to buy Decathlons own weight plates.Do not buy if you own any other weights or only intend to buy weights only from Decathlon. Needless to say, I promptly returned this bar.

    Brand's answer :

    Hi Robert,

We are looking to make the difference clearer with the products as some retailers in the UK sell a 25mm plate and bars.

The 28mm is stated on the product sign and information on the internet. Following feedback we have produced specific signage to make this clearer but I can not guarantee if this was put up in your store.

I include the information from wikipedia regarding the sizing of bars and plates. The 28mm comes from the grip size of the Olympic bar. Unfortunately the "standard" size is anything but...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbell

Our bars are sold across the world and with the exception of the UK and US (25mm and 27mm) the 28mm is the standard.

    Kind regards,
